BEAUTY: What to do on a bad hair day?

I seriously hate those very few women who seem to have perfect hair every day. How do they do it? My guess is they either are a hairdresser themselves or visit one multiple times a week. Ofcourse not everybody has the time and / or budget to do that. Although we all would rather go back to bed and stay in all day long, this really isn't a solution if you have obligations. Therefore I would like to share some tips with you to battle a bad hair day.

1. Put your hair up

The best hair to be put up, is hair that hasn't been washed for a couple of days. Spray some dry shampoo and comb your hair on the roots there subsequently. Make a bun and pin it loosely onto your head. Tip: you can use a scarf to add a girly touch.

2. Glamerous curls

This is a tip I often use myself definitely because I have some slight, natural curls myself. Put some oil in your hair to make it shine and start using that curling iron.

3. The ponytail

This is probably the easiest hairstyle ever. If this is too boring for you, I've got some good news: the wet look is in style more than ever. Spread some hair mousse on your towel dry hair and put it together in a low ponytail.

4. Braid your hair

Braids are perfect for thicker hair. The possibilities to braid your hair are endless.

5. Camouflage

If you don't have a lot of time on your hands or you're just not so good at trying out different hair styles, you can still go for this camouflage tip. Caps are totally in right now.

INSPIRATION: 5 ways to wear a scarf

I'm a huge fun of scarfs and tend to wear them in different ways. Last weekend I had an outfit shoot with a professional photographer (I can't wait to get my hand on the pictures) and I used my Hermès scarf as a headband. This trend is really going strong and gives a bohemian touch to your outfit. Here are some different ways you can wair a scarf.

1. Scarf as headband

2. Scarf as belt

3. Bag styled with a scarf

4. Scarf around your neck

5. Scarf as bracelet

MET Gala 2014

Each year the MET Gala is an event the fashion world looks forward to. Celebrities put on their most amazing outfit to dazzle us with their style. Last year the dress code was punk which encouraged some unusual red carpet looks.

This year the MET Gala goes back to its roots with a strict white tie dress code. To break it down, it usually consists of a black tailcoat with matching trousers that feature a single stripe of satin,  a white piqué wing-collared shirt, a white vest, studs and cuff links, a white bow tie, white or grey gloves, black patent shoes, and black dress socks.

This year the theme celebrates the “Great American Couturier,” Charles James. The designer was very popular from the ’30s and even into the ’70s.  From detailed draping to voluminous ball gowns and exquisite structuring, everything was about grand glamour.

Here are some of my favorite looks, which is your favorite?

Jessica Alba in Diane von Furstenberg
Chanel Iman, Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn in Topshop

one layer of Rouge Pur Couture, due to the bad light the color looks more pink but I  swear it's fuchsia
Package:

The package is very chic and in my favorite color gold. The lipstick is quadratic. At the point where the lipstick closes, the logo from Yves Saint Laurent comes together on the bullet.

two layers of Rouge Pur Couture
My own experience:

The formula is amazingly smooth and creamy. The lipstick is quite long lasting although I have to point out that the brightness from the color fates after about two hours. After having searched for the perfect fuchsia lipstick for so long, I was excited to find the perfect color in the product range from Yves Saint Laurent. Often lipsticks don't exactly match the color on the bullet but this one was completely satisfying. I'm super pleased about the color.
The finish is satiny mat and as bonus point, the Rouge Pur Couture has 15 SPF.

You can buy this lipstick in a lot of different shades on the Ici Paris XL website. The price tag is € 30,15 which is quite expensive but reasonable for its great quality.

Instalab #15

At Par Fête, a local afterwork party, I had these lovely pastas.

At the Geox Breathes event I ran into the lovely Sofie Valkiers from Fashionata.

On a Friday evening we celebrated the birthday from one of my best friends with a jacuzzi party and a "small" bottle of alcohol.

My godchild with the dress I gave her for Easter.

The outfit I wore to the Fashionata's Ladies Night.

This is the outfit I wore to go to a dinner with friends. Love the colorful details.

I had a trio of chocolat as dessert. It's probably needless to point out how delicious it was.

Last Saturday I went to Replay Festival.

A healthy lunch to finish the week.

OUTFIT: Spring in the castle courtyard

The past weekend I finally had some time to do a decent outfit shoot. Luckily my best friend was available and the sun was shining. We chose Alden Biesen, this is a castle in Bilzen, as location for our shoot. This castle and the courtyard, gardens,... around it are amazing definitely during spring.

Alden Biesen offers lots of cultural activities, impressive gardens, a lunch bar and a restaurant. This area is also perfect for a nice walk or pick nick. During the shoot we used different backgrounds, so you already get a good idea of the castle grounds.

For my outfit I chose the maxi dress I got from my aunt. This is an outfit piece that not everybody likes. Some of my friends think it's very pretty, others think it looks ridiculous. I think it suits me well although I feel more comfortable in a shorter dress. Because it was a bit windy yesterday I chose to match the dress with a dark blue blazer. As accessories I wore my headband from the H&M Conscious exclusive collection, my Michael Kors watch, the blue Michael Kors bag from my mother and my favourite bracelets from Stretch that Dollar.

Please share your opinion with me about this outfit.

I'm wearing

dress: Darling by Chloe 2 Dress
head band: H&M Conscious collection
bag: Michael kors
blazer: Zara
watch: Michael Kors
bracelets: Stretch that Dollar

Shoplog #4

Another week, another shoplog. Last week I attended Fashionata's ladies night in one of the most amazing stores in Belgium: Princess. During this night everybody got offered a 10 % discount. Now wouldn't it be a shame to not use this discount? As a real fashion addict I take every reason to shop.

As you know, I have been eying a Kenzo sweater for quite some time now but they always sell out so quickly and I don't always have to time to ride to Antwerp, which is about a 3h drive in total for me.
Luckily Princess had a huge supply of Kenzo items during the Fashionata's ladies night. I fell in love with the grey tiger sweater and luckily the size fitted me perfectly.

I can totally see myself wearing this sweater combined with some other casual items like a jeans or black leather pants. I also love how the sweater is very soft inside.

Princess has also a big range of Michael Kors items and you know I really adore this brand. It's so classy and from a very high quality. So you can imagine I really doubted between the Kenzo sweater and a new Michael Kors bag. In the end I decided not to buy a bag, for now, because I already have so many bags.

Somehow it seems that my mother and I are mentally connected because she bought a Michael Kors bag that exact same day. It's a small brown cross body bag which comes really in handy with the kick-off from the festival season.
