FASHION: Trend report Spring/Summer 2015

Spring is lurking around the corner and I really feel like stuffing my wardrobe with new items. Instead of just going on a shopping spree I try to be prepared for the battle and keep the new trends in mind. I make a difference between trends that seem to be short lived (not spending a lot of money on these) and trends that are here to stay. In today's blogpost I will share my favourite trends for this spring with you.

NL: Spring loert om de hoek en ik kan niet wachten om weer nieuwe spullen te kopen voor in mijn klerenkast. In plaats van in het wilde weg te gaan shoppen, probeer ik altijd voorbereid te zijn op de nieuwe trends. Daarin maak ik een onderscheid tussen de trends voor één seizoen (hier geef ik niet zoveel geld aan uit) en trends die een aantal jaartjes zullen meegaan. In de blogpost van vandaag deel ik mijn favoriete trends voor deze lente met jullie.

FASHION: Belgian designer Souâd Feriani

BEAUTY: La Prairie Anti-Aging Response Booster

Now that I'm past 25 years old, I start to think about skincare more and more. I learned from the best of course, my mother has an incredible beauty cabinet filled with countless products. I always  tend to choose qualitative products over cheap knock offs if it comes down to skincare. It's alright to go for a cheaper lipstick or nail polish because this can't do that much damage but you should always remember you only have one skin, so treat it right!

So far I mostly used products from Dior, Estée Lauder,... I always would be triggered by the brand La Prairie because a lot of people with great skin uses this. Unfortunately the price can be a bit expensive but the Anti-Aging Response Booster makes me consider treating myself to a more expensive and better product. The booster claims to show results within two weeks' time, it stimulates the cells which are responsible for the production of collagen. Wrinkles will visibly have demised after two weeks.

NL: Nu dat ik de 25 jaar voorbij ben, begin ik me steeds meer bezig te houden met huidverzorging. Ik leerde natuurlijk van de beste, mijn mama heeft een kast gevuld met talloze schoonheidsproducten. Op het gebied van huidverzorging zal je mij niet snel zien besparen door goedkope producten te kopen. Een goedkopere lippenstift of nagellak zal weinig of geen schade aanrichten, maar herinner je altijd dat je maar één huid hebt en deze is heel gevoelig. Dus verzorg je huid dan ook goed!

Tot dusver gebruikte ik meestal producten van Dior, Estée Lauder,... Maar ik wil al super lang het merk La Prairie uitproberen omdat veel mensen met fantastische resultaten dit gebruiken. Jammer genoeg zijn deze producten héél erg prijzig, toch doet de nieuwe Anti-Aging Response Booster me twijfelen om mezelf eens in de watten te leggen en me te trakteren op een beter product. De booster claimt dat het al binnen de twee weken resultaat zal tonen. Dit door het stimuleren van de cellen die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de productie van collageen. Rimpels zullen zichtbaar verminderd zijn binnen de twee weken.

FASHION: Style Report Rihanna

One of the most talked about celebrities of the past couple of years, is without a doubt Rihanna. The main topic of talk is always her style and her clothing choice or lack of it. Rihanna is known for shamelessly showing of her nipples, wearing lingerie as outerwear and other weird things. But sometimes Rihanna can be a real class act as well and surprise the world with a Chanel ensemble for example. You either hate her or love her, but there's no dying her influence on the fashion world.

NL: Eén van de meeste besproken beroemdheden van de afgelopen jaren, is zonder twijfel Rihanna. Het stof tot praten is dan meestal haar stijl en kledingkeuze, of het gebrek eraan. Rihanna staat bekend om het schaamteloos tonen van haar tepels, het dragen van lingerie als een kledingkeuze en andere rare dingen. Maar soms kan Rihanna ook klassevol voor de dag komen en de wereld verrassen met een Chanel ensemble bijvoorbeeld. Je haat haar of houd van haar, maar haar invloed over de modewereld valt niet te ontkennen.

FASHION: Style report on Blake Lively

Last week I was watching some reruns from Gossip Girl and I realised how much I miss this show with great styling and fashion inspiration. In a previous style report I already shared my love for the style of Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester).  But in real life I'm more a fan of Blake Lively's style. 

 

In Gossip Girl her character Serena Van der Woodsen was always very bohemian and sexy dressed. Blake dresses more ladylike and often opts for princess gowns. In earlier years she might have showed off her cleavage a bit or her killer legs, but being married and pregnant made her change into a classic beauty. Below you see some of my favourite looks from Blake through the years. 

NL: Afgelopen week bekeek ik enkele heruitzendingen van Gossip Girl en besefte ik hoeveel deze serie gevuld met geweldige styling en mode-inspiratie miste. In een vorig stijlverslag deelde ik al mijn liefde voor de stijl van Blair Waldorf (gespeeld door Leighton Meester). Maar in het echte leven ben ik meer fan van Blake Lively's stijl. 

In Gossip Girl was haar karakter Serena Van der Woodsen altijd boheems en sexy gekleed. Blake kleedt zich meer damesachtig en kiest vaak voor een prinsessenjurk. Enkele jaren geleden toonde ze nog veel decolleté of haar beroemde killer legs, maar haar huwelijk en zwangerschap veranderde Blake in een klassieke schoonheid. Hieronder zie je enkele van mijn favoriete looks van Blake door de jaren heen.

FASHION: Dior Haute Couture Spring 2015

Before Ready-to-Wear there was haute couture. Twice a year the best fashion houses show what they're worth and the amazing craftsmanship they possess. Raf Simons reinvented Dior's famous "New Look" with cutting-edge designs and pop colours. You can bet your money that celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson will definitely be spotted in at least one of these gowns.

NL: Voor het tijdperk van Ready-to Wear, was er Haute Couture. Tweemaal per jaar tonen de beste modehuizen wat ze waard zijn en het vakmanschap dat hun eigen is. Raf Simons vond het beroemde New Look  van Dior opnieuw uit met scherpe ontwerpen en opvallende kleuren. Je kunt er nu al geld op inzetten dat beroemdheden zoals Jennifer Lawrence en Emma Watson zeker en vast gespot zullen worden in deze jurken.

Q: Which is your favourite haute couture house? 

LIFESTYLE:You are a foodie if...

1. you always ask where somebody dined when you see their delicious plate on social media. 
   and are very disappointed when they don't remember the name of the place.
   
2. going on holiday means planning in advance where to eat. 
   Going on holiday or even shopping in a city where I'm not often means googling nice restaurants in advance.
   
3. at least one out of 9 pictures on your Instagram account are food pictures. 
   I go out for dinner at least once a week and taking pictures of my food is kind of required.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. you look weird at people that pass on dessert. 
   How can one end a lovely dinner without dessert!?

   Life is filled with difficult choices.

   The moment someone asks me out for dinner, I immediately look up the restaurant and check their menu. 

FASHION: Jason Wu Autumn/Winter 2015

While we are all counting down the days for winter to end, the top fashion bloggers and journalists are already discovering the collections for next winter. Yes, I'm talking about New York Fashion Week. I have to admit that this time around not as many shows appealed to me as usually. The best so far in my opinion was the Jason Wu show.

Jason Wu is more and more going for the chic business look instead for the ball gown look. The colour palette was made up of kaki, dark blue, white and silver. I spotted some gorgeous outerwear options and lots of fur. The tailoring of each design was perfect.

NL: Terwijl wij de dagen aftellen tot het einde van de winter, zijn de top modebloggers- en journalisten al bezig met het ontdekken van de collecties voor volgende winter. Ja, ik heb het over New York Fashion Week. Ik moet toegeven dat niet zoveel shows me aanspraken deze keer. Mijn favoriete collectie was die van Jason Wu. 

Jason Wu gaat steeds meer voor de chique businesslooks in plaats van zijn standaard baljurk looks. Het kleurenpalet bestaat uit kaki, donker blauw, wit en zilver. Ik zag enkele prachtige looks aangepast aan het koude weer buiten en veel bont. Het design van elke outfit was perfect. 

Q: Which was your favourite show from NYFW?

OUTFIT: I'm done with winter

Lately I have a hard time composing outfits for the blog. I'm so done with winter and I can't stand to wear my coats multiple times during outfit shoots. The coat in this outfit is my mom's and I wore it because it's super warm. I've had the flu this past weekend so it was very important to keep warm. I'm really going to try to shoot a better outfit next weekend when I have more time.

NL: De laatste tijd vind ik het moeilijk om outfits samen te stellen voor de blog. Ik heb het echt helemaal gehad met de winter en ik haat het om mijn jassen meerdere keren te dragen tijdens mijn outfit shoots. De jas in deze outfit is van mijn mama en ik droeg deze omdat hij super warm is. Ik heb het afgelopen weekend griep gehad dus het was belangrijk dat ik lekker warm had. Ik ga echt proberen om volgend weekend een betere outfit te shooten.

FASHION: Supertrash SS15 campaign

Regular readers from my blog will surely know that Supertrash is one of my favourite brands in the world. It's very qualitative yet still affordable. Designer Gulcay Olcay embodies femininity in all ways and this translates into gorgeous collections. Once again so many Supertrash items have made their way to my wish list for this spring. Below you can see some of my favourite campaign images.

NL: Regelmatige bezoekers van mijn blog weten natuurlijk al dat Supertrash één van mijn favoriete merken in de wereld is. Het is zo kwalitatief en toch betaalbaar Designer Gulcay Olcay is de vrouwelijkheid zelf en dit vertaalt zich in prachtige collecties! BEAUTY REVIEW: Dior Vernis - Spring 2015 Limited Edition nr 660 Glory and topcoat Eclosion

In today's blogpost I'm reviewing my two new Dior nail polishes: nr 660 Glory which is part of the spring 2015 limited edition collection and the matching topcoat Eclosion.

NL: In de blogpost van vandaag review ik mijn twee nieuwe Dior nagellakjes: nr 660 Glory, die deel uitmaakt van de Spring 2015 limited edition collectie, en de matchende topcoat Eclosion. 

Description:

Package: 

Both the nail polish and the topcoat come in the classic Dior see-through bottle with black cap and a silver cap on top. Dior and the description of the nail polish are printed in white on the bottle. The CD logo is engraved in the silver cap.

NL: Zowel de gewone nagellak als de topcoat zitten in het klassieke, doorzichtige Dior flesje met zwarte dop en daar nog eens een zilveren dop bovenop. Dior en de omschrijving van de nagellak is in het wit geprint op het flesje. Het "CD" logo is gegraveerd in de zilveren dop. 

My experience:

The main thing Dior nail polishes are known for is the super handy brush. It's super user-friendly which ensures that applying nail polish is very easy even for someone clumsy like me. The polish spreads evenly and the colour Glory totally lives up to my expectations.

I wasn't sure whether or not to buy the Eclosion topcoat. Dior nail polishes are quite expensive definitely if it's just a topcoat. But I just couldn't resist, it looks so quirky. This topcoat matches perfectly with the Glory nail polish. Eclosion can best be described as a glitter substance composed of white, lemon yellow, baby blue, blush pink and pale green glitter particles. This topcoat is better than the Diorific Golden Shock and only one layer sufficed on most nails.

Glory can be purchased online on the Ici Paris XL website for € 23,45. Eclosion is available here for € 25,00.

NL: De hoofdreden waarom Dior nagellakjes zo gegeerd zijn, is omwille van het super handige borsteltje. Het is erg gebruiksvriendelijk waardoor het aanbrengen van de nagellak erg gemakkelijk word, zelfs voor iemand onhandig zoals mezelf. De nagellak verspreidt zich evenredig over de volledige nagel en de kleur Glory vult al mijn verwachtingen in. 

Ik heb lang getwijfeld over het aankopen van de Eclosion topcoat. Dior nagellakjes zijn best prijzig en zeker voor een topcoat. Maar ik kon helaas geen neen zeggen tegen deze leuke kleurtjes. De topcoat matcht perfect met de Glory nagellak. Eclosion kan best omschrijven worden als een glitterachtige substantie bestaande uit witte, citroengele, babyblauw, roze en lichtgroene deeltjes. Deze topcoat is beter dan de Diorific Golden Shock en één laagje volstond op de meeste nagels. 

Glory kan aangekocht worden  online op de Ici Paris XL website voor € 23,45. Eclosion is hier verkrijgbaar voor € 25,00.
