Milan Fashion Week day 2

Day 2 from Milan Fashion week kicked off with the Blugirl fashion show. The decor had the looks of an old Italian villa which I absolutely adore. Remember I'm a sucker for everything old and slightly romantic.

But the most important thing about a fashion show are off course the clothes. The collection was divided in 3 parts: some black and classic looks, some romantic looks with lots of brocade and last but not least some looks in pastel shades. Again pastels remain on top!

I really liked almost every look, the romantic looks are my favourite. They have soft colors such as gold, beige and camel and can be mixed with almost every item in your wardrobe. You might not expect it but these looks were also best suited for fall and winter because of the amazing coats and furs.

The second show I really wanted to see today was the Just Cavalli show. The collection was quite gloomy but still very chic. The Just Cavalli woman loves gold, brocade, fur and animals; all these elements were mixed into great winter looks. This collection is very wearable with lots of pants and coats to cover your skin. The details were once again magnificent.

Gucci FW14 fashion show

Milan Fashion Week kicked off with one of my favourite shows: Gucci. After seeing this show, it's safe to say that we can keep on buying those pastel colors because they are here to stay.

What I love about Gucci is their sexy yet elegant style so I was very exciting to see this show live. I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the first half of the show. The looks had all the same colors and were a bit virtuous in my opinion. The looks had a seventies vibe and lots of models wore "nerdy" glasses.

But midway the show the atmosphere changed and so did the looks. The main colors became red and yellow, some looks even had animal prints. Finally I saw the sexy side of Gucci that I love. To finish of the collection, Frida Giannini and her team created some amazing embellished looks. The designs may look simple but if you look up close you can see the craftsmanship.

As for shoes, you definitely have to buy a pair of boots in beige, black or with animal print.

Cara Delevingne for Mulberry

Behind the scenes of London Fashion Week, Mulberry had some great news to announce to the world. The past year their sales had been decreasing so the brand did what they do best; lauching a bad linked to a it-girl. It seems like yesterday that the Alexa bag, named after Alexa Chung, and the Lana Del Rey bag conquered the world. Now it's Cara Delevingne's time to show the world she's British number one It-girl and make line of bags a success.

Delevigne helped with the designs for the three in one bag, it can be carried as backpack, shoulder bag or handbag. Different seizez, colors and textures will be available. 

All the bags have a small heart inside inspired by the tatoo of the model. Some limited editions will even have a lion printed on them, also as a reference to a tatoo. 

If you want  to start saving for this bag, I have good news; the launch will be mid August. The bad news is you will have to save quite a bit, the prices start from € 1.080 to € 3.000. 

London Fashion Week FW14 report

Today is the last day from London Fashion week and here are my favourite shows from the past week!

The most important and anticipated show from the week was without a doubt Burberry Prosum. This British brand always has one of the most star studded crowds, except Chanel. Anna Wintour, Harry Styles and Tinie Tempah were among others that attended the show.
Chief creative officer Christopher Bailey said it was the Bloomsbury set’s country retreat at Charleston in East Sussex, England, that fueled his imagination. Flowers were printed on scarfs, trench coats and dresses. But the most talked about piece, was the "blanket" some models got with their initials on and who wouldn't want that?

Mary Katrantzou is a designer I absolutely adore. The designs from her dresses are almost too beautiful to be true. In recent collections Katranzou used 3D-like prints in her designs but this season she opted for a more romantic way of decorating her clothes through lace, brocades and pleats. I think this might even be her best collection so far.

This was Matthew Williamson’s first collection with new head of design Danielle Scutt, who used to show her own line at London Fashion Week. Their mission was the give the brand's bohemian style a facelift. The show was an explosion of patterns, sequins but also with a punk edge rather than bohemian. The first collaboration between the two designers was a great success in my opinion.

I guess Alice Temperley must be a huge fan of the English royal family because her collection had many royal like items in it. The first series of looks had many royal blue items, the next looks had elegant capes and to finish it off Temperley included also some princess like gowns.
Nonetheless my favourite looks were the folkloric pieces with lots of organza and flower prints.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 report 3

This is my third and final report from New York Fashion Week. I've seen some great looks and shows but none of this season's shows had the potential to make history in my opinion. But who knows what London will bring?

Stacey Bendet from Alice + Olivia searched inspiration in the world of fairytales and translated that in a very Victorian like collection with a tomboy touch.

The richness of Vienna was the inspiration behind Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s beautiful lineup, in which they showed their collection mixed with pieces from Badgley Mischka Couture. This influence was noticeable in the details such as lace and plenty of glitter. 

Jenny Packham is one of the favorites from Kate Middleton and we can easily see why. The inspiration of this collection was Bianca Jagger and her seventies style. I can see lots of modern it-girls wear these looks on the red carpet with combinations such as beaded sweaters with ball gown skirts.

Gilles Mendel's collection for J. Mendel was all about geometrics. But my favourites from the show were the simple dresses and the furs. 

“Clean drama. No ruffles, no flounces — everything has a reason and a purpose.” That’s how Zac Posen described his collection . The dresses were quite simple without any embellishments.

Bobo Tremelo fashion show at Versuz

Last Saturday I went to a very special fashion show in my favourite club Versuz. If you want a party night beyond your imagination, you should really go to Versuz. This club reopened last December and their clothing sponsor is Bobo Tremelo. I have been to fashion shows from Bobo before, read the article here. They even have a small shop in Versuz. 

This time Bobo presented their spring collection in Versuz with several fashion shows on the pumping beats. It wasn't the kind of fashion show you would expect. The models danced and partied on stage, this made the clothes look like extra fun to wear. The collection exists of bright colours such as pink and pastels. I'm going to check out their shop this Saturday to score my first spring dress for this season!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 report 2

Yesterday I watched the shows from Carolina Herrera, Milly and Reem Acra online. So today I give you a review of these three shows.

“There is no reference to the past,” said Carolina Herrera during a preview. “I’m trying to go to the future.” The designer didn't lie, she tried to stay away from the princess gowns she usually designs. Carolina Herrera used a lot of volume such as rounded shoulders and a quiet palette of colors such as brown and navy.

Milly is a quite new brand which I recently discovered and totally fell in love with. Michelle Smit's collection reminded me of the movie "Black Swan". Smit used a lot of layers, texture and plenty of shine. The collection was a mix and match of masculine and feminine pieces combined into different perfect looks.

With her fall collection, Reem Acra said she wanted to describe the journey of an elegant woman through a night in Paris. In my opinion you can add mysterious and chic to that description. She used lots of embellishments, feathers, lace and even crystals.
