EVENT: Trek Food Truck Festival

NL: Wie mij een weetje kent, weet ik dat een echte food fanaat ben. Als het van mij afging, gingen we met z'n allen elke dag uiteten. Het leven is te kort om niet lekker te eten. Vorige week vond ik Maastricht het Trek Food Truck Festival plaats in het pittoreske Stadspark. Onder een stralend zonnetje verzamelden vier dagen lang zich een massa rond de lekkerste eet- en drank standjes. 

Voor ieder wat wils op het Trek Food Truck Festival: van Amerikaanse hamburgers tot Italiaanse pasta's en van Vietnamese hapjes tot Hollandse poffertjes. Ook voor de drinkers onder ons was er keuze genoeg met onder andere een bierwagen, een wijnterras en een gin bar. Verder was er ook verschillende vormen van entertainment voorzien. Het Trek Food Truck Festival is de hele zomer nog op verschillende locaties in Nederland te vinden, meer informatie vind je hier.

ENG: Those who know me, now I'm a true foodie. If it depended on me, we all would go out for dinner every single day. Life is too short to not enjoy lots of food. Last week the Trek Food Truck Festival took place in the gorgeous Stadspark of Maastricht. Four days long a lot of people gathered around the most delicious food and drink booths. 

There's something for everyone's liking at the Trek Food Truck Festival: from American hamburgers to Italian pasta's and from Vietnamese bites to Dutch pancakes. There was also plenty of choice for those who just wanted to enjoy some drinks with a beer car, a wine terrace and a gin bar. The organisation provided quite some entertainment as well. EVENT: Game Changers exhibition at MoMu

NL:  Heb je dit weekend nog geen plannen? Ben je wel gepassioneerd door mode en/of geschiedenis? Misschien is de Game Changers exhibitie van het MoMu in Antwerpen wel iets voor jou. Ik ging eerder deze week de exhibitie alvast exclusief voor jullie ontdekken.

De tentoonstelling begint bij ontwerper Cristobal Balenciaga. Voorgenoemde sloeg vanaf midden twintigste eeuw al geldende moderegels in de wind en kwam met een nieuw silhouet op de proppen. Eentje dat de vrouw meer bewegingsruimte moest geven en werkte met architecturale volumes. 

Daarna kijken we hoe andere ontwerpers einde twintigste eeuw het vrouwelijke silhouet nog verder aftasten. De exhibitie toont unieke designs van onder andere Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Ann Demeulemeester en Martin Margiela.

The exhibition starts off with designer Cristobal Balenciaga. The latter went against all the fashion rules of the time and designed a new silhouette. One which got the body freedom of movement and created architectural volumes.

At  the end of the 20th century a lot of other designers will further develop this silhouette. The exhibition shows exclusive designs from Issey Miyake, Yohjij Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Ann Demeuelemeester, Martin Margiela and many others.

EVENT: Goldie The Borrel SS16 fashion show

NL: Als je naar buiten kijkt, zou je het misschien niet meteen denken maar de lente komt er aan. Rond deze periode van het jaar wordt mijn mailbox dan ook overstelpt met uitnodigingen voor mode shows. Wat ik natuurlijk niet erg vind!

Een tweejaarlijks evenement dat altijd op de agenda staat is de modeshow van de winkel Goldie uit Herentals. Tijdens zo een modeshow krijg je een greep te zijn uit het rijke aanbod van de winkel. Goldie en ik delen een gemeenschappelijke voorliefde voor merken zoals Ted Baker, Patrizia Pepe en Elisabetta Franchi. Hieronder vind je een dan ook een niet zo kleine grijp uit mijn favoriete looks. Voor deze zomer doen de beige tinten het weer erg goed, net zoals de maxi-jurken en rokken. Mijn favoriete look is de tweede outfit uit de derde rij: een koningsblauwe body met luipaard maxi rok. Welke outfit is jouw favoriet? 

ENG: If you look outside, it might seem otherwise but spring is around the corner. During this time of the year my mailbox is crushed by the invites for fashion shows. Which I don't mind of course!

A bi-annual event which is always marked on my calendar is the fashion show of Goldie, a store in Herentals. During a fashion show like this, you get to see a grasp of the huge collection of a store. Goldie and I share the same love for brands such as Ted Baker, Patrizia Pepe and Elisabetta Franchi. Below you can see a rather not so small selection of my favourite looks. This summer nude shades are still all the rage, as are the maxi dresses and skirts. My favourite look is the second one on the third row: a royal blue body and a leopard maxi skirt. EVENT: TITI + The German kid - launch of the "Club Titi" collection

NL: Gisterenavond was ik uitgenodigd bij de Hasseltse winkel TITI + The German Kid. Dit is een hippe winkel met edgy truien en t-shirts. Kristien Follon ,de ontwerpster, en haar partner bedenken de collecties volledig zelf en maken de kleren in de winkel. Met een beetje geluk kan je dus getuige zijn van het productieproces van jouw nieuwe item.

Kristien stelde gisteren haar nieuwe collectie "Club Titi" voor. Deze is geïnspireerd op sportelementen, toffe items van een rommelmarkt en haar jeugd. De items zijn verkrijgbaar in de leukste kleurtjes. Momenteel twijfel ik nog tussen de roze trui met dolfijn of de rode trui met "Forever Titi" opschrift. Welke zou ik kiezen?

ENG: Yesterday evening I was invited by TITI + The German Kid, a store in Hasselt. This is a cool store which sells edgy sweaters and T-shirts. Kristien Follon, the designer, and her partner come up with the designs themselves and produce the clothes in store. So with a little bit of luck you might observe of how your new clothing piece gets produced.

Kristien presented her new collection "Club Titi" yesterday. This is inspired by sport elements, cute items from a flea market and her youth. These items are available in multiple lovely colours. At the moment I'm still doubting between the pink sweater with a dolphin on or the red sweater with "Forever Titi". Which one should I choose?

EVENT: Firenze4Ever 12th Edition by Luisa via Roma

NL: Opgelet: deze week gaan jullie nog de hele week gespamd worden met blogposts over Firenze. De reden mijn tweedaagse verblijf in de stad van de Medici, was de twaalfde editie van het Firenze4Ever event. Dit is een mode event georganiseerd door Luisa via Roma om de stad en de nieuwe mode collecties in de spotlights te zetten. 

Tweemaal per jaar verzamelen de beste bloggers, stylisten en moderedacteuren zich in Firenze. Luisa via Roma shoot stylelabs waarin de nieuwe collecties van Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Valentino,... worden geshowd. Dit alles gebeurd tegen de pittoreske achtergrond die Firenze vormt. Om dit alles in stijl af te sluiten, wordt er nog een gigantisch feest georganiseerd. Hierop is iedereen met naam en faam in de Italiaanse (en verder daarbuiten) modewereld op aanwezig.

Het is de tweede maal dat ik uitgenodigd ben, lees het verslag van de vorige editie hier. Je kunt je dan ook wel voorstellen hoe geweldig vereerd ik me voel om hier als enige Belgische (zover ik weet) op uitgenodigd te zijn. De avond verliep dan ook perfect: de locatie was prachtig ingekleed, de drankjes vloeide rijkelijk, de beste performances zoals Nervo verzorgde de beats en als kers op de taart liep ik er Danielle van We Wore What tegen het lijf. Zoals jullie wel zullen begrijpen, nam ik enkel mijn GSM mee naar het event en heb ik dus niet veel foto's. Hieronder krijgen jullie nog een beter beeld van het event dankzij dit filmpje.

ENG: Warning: all week long I will keep on spamming you with blogposts about Florence. The reason for my two-day stay in the city of the Medici, was the 12th edition of the Firenze4Ever event. This is a fashion event organised by Luisa via Roma to put the city and the newest fashion collections in the spotlights.

Twice a year the best blogger, stylists and fashion editors gather in Florence. Luisa via Roma shoots style labs with them in which the newest collections of brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Valentino,.. are being shown. This happens with a picture perfect background called Florence. To end Firenze4Ever in style, a gigantic party is organised. Everybody with a name in the Italian (and international) fashion world is invited. 

This was the second time I was invited, read my report about the previous event here. You can imagine I'm tremendously honoured to be invited as the only Belgian (as far as I'm aware). The evening went very smoothly: the location was decorated gorgeously, there were plenty of drinks, the best performers such as Nervo were on stage and as cherry on the cake I ran into Danielle from We Wore What.  Understandably I only took my mobile phone with me so I don't have any high quality pictures of the Tech Dream party. No stress though, because below there's a short after movie. Enjoy!

EVENT: Pressdays SS16 - Clothing

De afgelopen dagen was het wat rustiger op de blog. Dit komt doordat ik vorige week in Antwerpen was voor de persdagen. De PR-bureaus stellen dan hun showrooms open zodat bloggers, stylisten en journalisten de collecties voor het volgende seizoen kunnen gaan spotten. Omdat ik zoveel showrooms bezocht dit seizoen, ga ik een beetje per categorie mijn favorieten tonen. Vandaag begin ik met de trends op kledinggebied. 

The past few days I have been a bit quiet on the blog. This is because I spent a great amount of time in Antwerp last week because of the press days. PR agencies open up their showrooms for bloggers, stylists and press to discover the collections for next season. Because I visited so many showrooms, I will show you my favourites by category. Let's start with the clothing trends for this spring.

De lente is het seizoen bij uitstek om de gekste printjes uit de kast te halen. Dit is jaar na jaar zo en ook nu is dit niet anders.

Spring is the perfect season to take your craziest prints out of the closet. We see this trend return each year so no surprise there.

In tijden van crisis en angst scheert de punk en rock & roll trend hoge toppen. Verbazingwekkend veel collecties hadden in hun lente en zomer collecties opvallend veel leer en edgy items zitten. 

In times of crisis and fear, punk and rock & roll bring some comfort. A surprisingly amount of collections for this spring and summer have a lot of leather and edgy items.

Soft colours and fabrics

Een lente zonder zachte kleuren en stoffen zoals kant en suède, is hetzelfde als een Kerstmis zonder cadeautjes. Ik spotte zoveel mooie items in een aantal showrooms.

A spring without soft colours and fabrics such a lace and suede, are like a Christmas without gifts. I sighted so many gorgeous items in numerous showrooms.
