INSPIRATION: Chic travel style

I'm planning on going on a citytrip this fall, probably Barcelona. One thing I kind of hate about travelling is flying. Not because I'm anxious about it because I love being in the air. But let's be honest, it almost feels impossible to dress stylish while travelling. You don't want to wear a zillion accessories going through security, you bag needs to be practical and offer a lot of space to cram in a lot of stuff. The temperature may differ a lot between your two destinations so it's hard to dress properly and let's not forget about how cold it can get on a plane. Last but not least: the air does terrible things to my skin so you rather cover yourself a bit up. Some of our favorite celebrities sure know how to dress stylish while travelling, so here are some inspirational pics to help us through our next holiday.

NL: Ik ben aan het nadenken om komende herfst nog een citytrip te doen, waarschijnlijk Barcelona. Eén ding wat ik minder vind aan het reizen, is vliegen. Niet omdat ik vliegangst heb, wat ik vind het heerlijk om hoog in de lucht te zitten. Maar laten we eerlijk zijn, het is echt moeilijk om je modieus te kleden wanneer je reist. Je wilt geen talloze accessoires dragen op het moment dat je door de veiligheidscontrole gaat, je tas moet praktisch en ruim zijn, zodat er zo veel mogelijk dingen inpassen. De temperatuur kan erg verschillende tussen je vertrekpunt en bestemming dus het is moeilijk je kleding daarop af te stemmen. En laten we natuurlijk niet vergeten dat het erg koud kan worden eens het vliegtuig opgestegen is. Daar komt nog eens bij dat de lucht in een vliegtuig niet echt bevorderend is voor mijn huid dus je wilt je ook wat camoufleren met een hoedje en/of zonnebril. Enkele van onze favoriete beroemdheden weten zichzelf nochtans de perfecte reisstijl aan te meten, hieronder deel ik enkele van mijn favorieten foto's.

OUTFIT: White and Gold

This evening we spent the night in Forte Di Marmi. The most luxurious beach town in Tuscany. Therefor I felt some pressure to dress fancy as well. White and gold are two of my favourite colors and they are both very chic. I did some shopping at the local Michael Kors store. Keep an eye on my blog to see what I bought. But for now I'll show you tonight's outfit.

Nederlands: Vanavond zijn we naar Forte Di Marmi geweest. Dit is het meest luxueuze strandstadje in Toscane. Daarom voelde ik ook een soort van druk om me chic te kleden. Wit en goud zijn twee van mijn favorieten kleuren en tillen een outfit naar een hoger niveau. Ik heb onder andere geshopt in de lokale Michael Kors winkel. Hou zeker mijn blog in het oog om te ontdekken wat ik gekocht heb. Voorlopig moet je het doen met foto's van mijn outfit.

OUTFIT: Colorful Pistoia

I'm writing this blog post from my hotel lobby in Montecantini. Some German hotel guests are quite nosy because the soccer game is on and they can become world champion. I hope Germany will prevail upon Argentina because Argentina beat my country Belgium and honestly they haven't been playing that well.

But back to the point of this post. My parents and I left Belgium Saturday evening to drive by car all the way to Tuscany. I was so glad when we finally arrived in our first hotel in Montecantini. This is a place in Tuscany, well-known for their spa resorts. Since my parents don't like spas, we will probably skip that. In the morning we discovered the local town a bit. It's a small town but has some nice shops with all the high end Italian designer brands. But up until now I stayed good and only bought some nail polishes at Kiko.

In the afternoon we hit the small and older town of Pistoia. There weren't really important sightings there. Still the town had some pretty, old buildings and very cute, little streets. In this town I did my first outfit shoot. Since it was quite sunny I chose to wear my Pinko dress which is very colorful. For my comfort I chose to wear my sandals. What do you think about this outfit?

To close down the evening we went to a nice restaurant next to our hotel where I ate a super delicious hamburger with French fries. Tomorrow my parents and I will check out the most important Tuscan city of all: Florence. Since I'm a history freak, I can't wait to discover everything about the Medici family.
Fashion wise I'm really looking forward to checking out stores such as Louisa via Roma. Who knows what I will buy tomorrow ;-)?

Nederlands: Ik schrijf deze blog post vanuit mijn hotel in Montecantini. Enkele Duitse hotelgasten zijn redelijk luidruchtig aan het supporteren voor hun team in de finale van de Wereldbeker voetbal. Zelf hoop ik ook dat Duitsland Argentinië verslaat, vermits de Argentijnen tegen België hebben gewonnen en ze eigenlijk niet eens zo goed spelen. 

Maar terug naar het doel van deze post. Mijn ouders en ik zijn zaterdagavond vertrokken richting Toscane, het was echt een opluchting om na zoveel uren rijden aan te komen bij ons eerste hotel in Montecantini. Dit stadje is vooral bekend omwille van zijn wellness gelegenheden, al vrees ik dat wij er weinig gebruik van zullen maken. Vanochtend zijn we het lokale stadje wat gaan verkennen. Het is echt een klein stadje maar toch ben ik al verschillende winkels tegen gekomen met prachtige Italiaanse designer merken. Tot nu toe heb ik mij nochtans goed ingehouden en heb ik enkel twee nagellakjes gekocht bij Kiko.

In de late namiddag zijn we het kleinere maar pittoreske stadje Pistoia gaan bezoeken. Echt belangrijke bezienswaardigheden waren hier niet, al hebben we wel genoten van de schattige, kleine straatjes en authentieke gebouwen. Hier hebben we ook mijn eerste outfit shoot gedaan. Het was redelijk zonnig en dus besloot ik mijn kleurrijk jurkje van Pinko aan te trekken. Normaal zou ik dit vervolledigen met hoge hakken maar nu koos ik voor de iets comfortabelere oplossing van sandalen. Wat vind je van deze outfit? 

Om de avond af te sluiten, gingen mijn ouders en ik uiteten in een heerlijk restaurant naast ons hotel. Hier had ik een heel lekkere hamburger met frietjes. Morgen gaan we de belangrijkste Toscaanse stad bezoeken namelijk Firenze. Als geschiedenis freak kan je in deze stad alles te weten komen over de Medici familie. Maar voor de fashionista's is het ook een echt shoppingsparadijs met onder andere Luisa Via Roma. Wie weet met welke buit ik morgen thuis kom :-)?

Holiday to Tuscany - part 1

As I have already mentioned a zillion times on this blog, I'm going on a holiday to Tuscany in less than a month. My parents visited the area last year and were very impressed by it. My dad absolutely loved the amazing views and lovely food, my mother on the other hand adored the shopping opportunities. Read expensive Italian brands cheaper than normally and on sale!!!!!!!!! Since my DNA is a combination of both of them - duh! - I'm totally looking forward to all of that.

In my world two kinds of holidays exists: the luxurious sunny and lazy holiday on one side. My favorite destination for that is Turkey and then I always go for a 5* hotel. But Tuscany is not going to be that kind of holiday. We will probably be in the hotel only at night so the accommodation will be less important. Still a clean and nice room (with Wi-Fi) is a must-have!

Since the Tuscany area is quite large,  we won't be staying in one place. My father owns a car from work so he'll be cruising my mother and me through this amazing place. Therefore my parents booked three different hotels. In today's article I will be previewing those hotels.

We booked all our hotels on the Booking website. My dad often uses this site for his business travels so he gets some nice reductions. When I check out a hotel, I mainly focus on three items: the ratings and comments from others, the pictures definitely from the room and if there's (free) Wi-Fi available.

NL: Zoals ik al een aantal keer gemeld heb op deze blog, ga ik binnen minder dan een maand op vakantie naar Toscane. Mijn ouders zijn hier vorig jaar ook geweest en vonden het een prachtige streek. De uitzichten en het heerlijke eten werden vooral door mijn vader geapprecieerd, mijn mama vond het shoppen dan weer helemaal geweldig. Lees: dure Italiaanse merken aanzienlijk goedkoper als hier in België en al in de solden!!! Doordat de appel niet ver van de boom valt, kijk ik al uit naar al deze elementen.

In mijn ogen bestaan er 2 soorten vakanties: de luxueuze, zonnige en luie vakantie aan de ene kant. Mijn favoriete bestemming hierbij is Turkije en da ga ik ook altijd voor een 5* hotel. Maar Toscane zal niet dat soort vakantie worden. We zullen vooral enkel 's nachts terug te vinden zijn in het hotel. We gaan met onze eigen wagen zodat verplaatsingen makkelijk zijn. Daarom zullen we ook in 3 verschillende hotels verblijven zodat het verplaatsten van stad naar stad minder tijd in beslag neemt. Vandaag blik ik al kort even vooruit op deze hotels.

We hebben al onze hotels geboekt via de website van Booking. Mijn vader gebruikt deze website regelmatig voor zijn zakenreizen en als je regelmatig via hun boekt, geven ze dan ook leuke kortingen. Wanneer ik een hotel uitzoek, hecht ik belang aan 3 dringen: de beoordelingen van andere klanten, de foto's van de kamers en of er (gratis) Wi-Fi beschikbaar is.

Our first hotel is the Versilia Palace hotel in Marina di Pietrasante, right at the seaside. The hotel gets a very good rating and is praised for their friendly staff and clean rooms. The hotel has Wi-Fi throughout the whole building and a swimming pool. Although we won't be spending a lot of time in the hotel, it's still nice to have a pool. The nice and luxurious beach town Forte di Mare is nearby.

NL: Ons eerste hotel is het Versilia Palace Hotel in Marina di Pietrasante, pal aan de kustlijn. Dit hotel heeft erg goede beoordelingen en wordt vooral geloofd omwille van zijn vriendelijke medewerkers en propere kamers. Het hotel heeft doorheen het volledige gebouw Wi-Fi en een zwembad. Ookal zullen we niet veel tijd doorbrengen in het hotel, toch vind ik het een leuke optie om een zwembad ter beschikking te hebben. Het prachtige en luxueuze strandplaatsje Forte di Mare is vlakbij gelegen.

Palazzo San Lorenzo is our second hotel and is situated in Colle di Val d'Elsa. It will be our base to visit Siena, a town with a lot of remains from the Middle Ages. This hotel really excides me because it's actually an old palace and I like the kind of "royal" feeling. A lot of 17th century decoration is still visible in the hotel  and there's a covered middle place where breakfast is served. I also just found out that Palazzo San Lorenzo has its own spa, omg!!!!

NL: Palazzo San Lorenzo is het tweede hotel waar we zullen verblijven en is gevestigd in Colle di Val d'Elsa. Het zal onze uitvalbasis zijn om Siena te bezoeken, een stadje met veel overblijfselen uit de Middeleeuwen. Dit hotel is echt helemaal mijn ding omdat het eigenlijk een oud paleis is en ik hou nogal van het "Koninklijke" gevoel. Je kunt nog veel 17e eeuwse decoratie terugvinden in het hotel en de binnenplaats is overdekt met een glazen koepel. Hier vindt 's morgens het ontbijt plaats. Zonet ontdekte ik ook dat Palazzo San Lorenzo zijn eigen spa heeft, joepie!!!!

Last but not least we will also by staying in hotel Boston located in Montecatini. This hotel owns a  swimming pool with a panoramic view and the very famous spa from Montecatini is also nearby.

NL: Ten laatste zullen we ook nog logeren in hotel Boston, gelegen in Montecatini. Dit hotel bezit een zwembad met panoramisch uitzicht en de zeer beroemde spa van Montecatini is nabij gelegen.
