EVENT: Rock Werchter

Last Thursday I visited Rock Werchter with my daddy. Rock Werchter is the biggest and most important rock festival in Belgium. In total they are 4 festival days but I only went one day. When I was younger I really was into punk and rock music but the last couple of years I diverted more to dance music. But I was lucky to see two of my all-time favorite bands: Placebo and Metallica.

Placebo is a British band that plays some kind (indie) rock and is mostly known for some great songs such as "Song to say goodbye" and "Mets". Their performance really took me by surprise. They play really well live and Brian Moloko, the lead singer, is a real genius. Their lyrics are well written and really appeal to me.

But the highlight of the day was without a doubt Metallica, they are being considered one of the greatest metal bands ever. I surely agree with that. Early on in the set they played " Master of puppets", definitely a really great song. Afterwards the set slowed down a bit with less popular songs. During these moments I really got to appreciate the craft of all the band members. 

The second part of the set was really amazing with crowd favorites such as "One" and "Enter Sandman". Below you can see some pictures to get an impression.

Nederlands: Afgelopen donderdag bracht ik een bezoekje aan Rock Werchter samen met mijn papa. Rock Werchter is het grootste en meest belangrijkste rockfestival van België. Het festival telt in totaal 4 dagen, maar ik ging maar 1 dag. Enkele jaren geleden was ik nog fel geïnteresseerd in punk en rock muziek maar de laatste jaren ging mijn voorkeur steeds meer uit naar Dance muziek. Toch vond ik het helemaal geweldig om twee van mijn favoriete bands aller tijden te zien: Placebo en Metallica.

Placebo is een Britste band die (indie) rock speelt en vooral bekend is omwille van hun geweldige nummers zoals "Song  to say Goodbye" en "Mets". Hun optreden heeft me echt in de positieve zin verrast. Ze spelen echt goed live en Brian Moloko, de zanger van de band, is simpelweg een genie. Hun songteksten spreken me echt aan.

Maar het hoogtepunt van de dag was zonder twijfel Metallica, zij worden beschouwd als één van de beste Metal bands aller tijden. En daar ben ik het helemaal mee eens. Vroeg in hun set speelde Metallica "Master of puppets", een fantastisch nummer om op los te gaan. Daarna zakte het ritme een beetje doordat de band wat minder bekende songs speelde. Tijdens deze momenten viel me echt wel op hoe goed de groepsleden zijn in het bespelen van hun diverse instrumenten.
Het tweede deel van de set was echt geweldig met enkele publieksfavorieten zoals "One" en "Enter Sandman". Hieronder zie je enkele sfeerbeelden.

Dior Haute Couture Fall 2014

As a Belgian I'm always really proud of the achievements of my fellow compatriots. Belgian designers are highly appreciated in the fashion world and Raf Simons is a real master. I don't think anybody could be a better head designer for Dior at the moment.

A ticket for the Dior fashion shows is one of the most craved among the fashion crowd and that's no surprise. Yesterday this legendary fashion house presented their Couture collection for this fall and I was scanning my social media the whole day for every little update. And boy this collection didn't disappoint at all.

The first pictures that were sent into social media space where by non-other than Mario Testino which showed the Rodin museum and an amazing white building. The venue suited the collection perfectly. Raf Simons knows how to bring the past of Dior and the future together and create stunning clothes.

The dresses from this collection are very princess and 18th century like with a lot of volume. Some other looks existed out of some basic pants but finished off with some amazing coats. In my opinion the use of icy pastels brings this collection to another level.

As much as couture is out of my reach and probably out of 99,9% of the global population's reach, I think Dior managed once again to create a fantasy that will appeal to a lot of people. Below you can see some of my favorite looks. How do you feel about these looks?

Nederlands: Als Belgische, ben ik altijd erg trots op prestaties van mijn medelandgenoten. Belgische ontwerpers worden dan ook erg geapprecieerd in de modewereld en Raf Simons is dan een echte meester in zijn vak. Ik denk niet dat er momenteel iemand een betere hoofdontwerper voor Dior zou zijn.

Elke fashionista is belust op een ticket voor de Dior modeshow en hoe kan het ook anders? Gisteren presenteerde het legendarische modehuis zijn Couture collectie voor deze herfst en ik heb de hele dag naarstig de sociale media afgeschuimd voor elke kleine update. En ik moet zeggen: deze collectie stelde absoluut niet teleur.

De eerste foto's die de social media ruimte werden ingezonden waren getrokken door niemand minder dan Mario Testino, deze toont het Rodin museum en een prachtig wit gebouw. De locatie paste perfect bij de collectie. Raf Simons weet telkens opnieuw het verleden van Dior samen te brengen met de toekomst en creëert telkens opnieuw prachtige stuks.

De jurken van deze collectie zijn erg prinses en 18de eeuws achtig met veel volume. Andere looks bestonden dan weer uit basis stukken zoals een simpele broek maar dan afgewerkt met prachtige jassen. Persoonlijk vond ik ook dat de ijzige pastel tinten de collectie op een andere hoogte brachten.

Hoewel couture niet binnen mijn budget valt (en ook niet binnen dat van 99,9 % van de rest van de bevolking), toch denk ik dat Dior er andermaal in geslaagd is om iedereen fantasie aan te spreken. Hieronder vind je enkele van mijn favoriete looks terug. Wat vind jij hiervan?

Shoplog #8

My shoplog today is all about make-up. I still had some Ici Paris XL vouchers laying at home that were about to expire. Of course a beauty addict like yours truly couldn't let that happen. The things I bought are a combination of basic items that I always use and some new items that I wanted to try. Let me know which is your favourite item! I hope I soon find the time to  do some reviews!

NL: De shoplog van vandaag is volledig gewijd aan make-up. Ik had nog enkele bonnen thuis liggen van Ici Paris XL die op het punt stonden van te vervallen. Een beautyverslaafde, zoals mezelf, kon dit natuurlijk niet laten gebeuren. De producten, die ik kocht, zijn een mix van basis items en enkele nieuwe dingen die ik graag eens wou uitproberen. Laat me weten wat jouw favoriete product is! Ik hoop dat ik ook snel tijd vind om enkele reviews te doen.

Estée Lauder Advanced night Repair is a product I have been using for quite some years now on a daily basis. And I honestly can't see it disappearing amongst my favorites very soon. This product keeps on winning award after award and it really is that awesome! My skin is super soft after using it.

NL: Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair is een product dat ik al enkele jaren dagelijks gebruik. En eerlijk gezegd zie ik het ook niet snel van mijn lijstje met favoriete beautyproducten verdwijnen. Dit product blijft de ene award na de andere winnen en terecht! Mijn huid is echt super zicht na het gebruikt van de Advanced Night repair. 

The second product I bought is another daily use product: YSL's Touche Eclat. Normally I use color 2 but because it's summer and my skin is getting slightly tanned I opted for the Peche Lumiere this time. Although the color looks quite dark, it blends perfectly with my skin.

NL: Het tweede product dat ik kocht, is weer een product dat ik dagelijks gebruik; de YSL Touche Eclat. Normaal gebruik ik tint 2 maar omdat het zomer is en ik toch lichtjes gebruind ben, verkies ik momenteel de Peche Lumiere. De kleur ziet er zo vrij donker uit, maar mixt perfect met mijn huid.

Recently I saw the Eastern Light nail polish from Chanel making its way onto a lot of fashion and beauty blogs. White nail polish is a good and sophisticated replacement for red during the summer. I totally love it!

NL: De laatste tijd merk ik op dat veel beauty en modeblogger de Eastern Light nagellak van Chanel gebruiken. Witte nagellak is een goede en gesofisticeerde vervanger voor rood tijdens de zomer. Ik ben helemaal verkocht!

Lately I really try out and use different shades of lipstick. I didn't have a dark red shade amongst my collection yet, shame on me. I've always been very pleased about Chanel's range of lipsticks so I was instantly sold when I tried nr 99 Pirate on from the Rouge Allure range.

NL: De laatste tijd probeer en gebruik ik steeds meer verschillende kleuren van lippenstift uit. Ik had nog geen donkere rode tint bij mijn collectie, een echte schande. Ik ben altijd erg tevreden geweest van de Chanel lippenstiften en was dan ook meteen verkocht toen ik nr 99 Pirate van het Rouge Allure gamma uitprobeerde.

As for eye shadows I'm usually a save person and use my limited edition eye palette from Dior from a view years ago but when I saw this palette I just couldn't resist the urge. This is another limited edition palette from YSL ombres 5 lumieres.  

NL: Op het gebied van oogschaduwen, ben ik meestal redelijk save en gebruik ik standaard mijn limited edition palet van Dior. Maar toen ik dit palet van YSL ombres 5 lumieres zag, kon ik onmogelijk weerstaan.

Holiday to Tuscany - part 1

As I have already mentioned a zillion times on this blog, I'm going on a holiday to Tuscany in less than a month. My parents visited the area last year and were very impressed by it. My dad absolutely loved the amazing views and lovely food, my mother on the other hand adored the shopping opportunities. Read expensive Italian brands cheaper than normally and on sale!!!!!!!!! Since my DNA is a combination of both of them - duh! - I'm totally looking forward to all of that.

In my world two kinds of holidays exists: the luxurious sunny and lazy holiday on one side. My favorite destination for that is Turkey and then I always go for a 5* hotel. But Tuscany is not going to be that kind of holiday. We will probably be in the hotel only at night so the accommodation will be less important. Still a clean and nice room (with Wi-Fi) is a must-have!

Since the Tuscany area is quite large,  we won't be staying in one place. My father owns a car from work so he'll be cruising my mother and me through this amazing place. Therefore my parents booked three different hotels. In today's article I will be previewing those hotels.

We booked all our hotels on the Booking website. My dad often uses this site for his business travels so he gets some nice reductions. When I check out a hotel, I mainly focus on three items: the ratings and comments from others, the pictures definitely from the room and if there's (free) Wi-Fi available.

NL: Zoals ik al een aantal keer gemeld heb op deze blog, ga ik binnen minder dan een maand op vakantie naar Toscane. Mijn ouders zijn hier vorig jaar ook geweest en vonden het een prachtige streek. De uitzichten en het heerlijke eten werden vooral door mijn vader geapprecieerd, mijn mama vond het shoppen dan weer helemaal geweldig. Lees: dure Italiaanse merken aanzienlijk goedkoper als hier in België en al in de solden!!! Doordat de appel niet ver van de boom valt, kijk ik al uit naar al deze elementen.

In mijn ogen bestaan er 2 soorten vakanties: de luxueuze, zonnige en luie vakantie aan de ene kant. Mijn favoriete bestemming hierbij is Turkije en da ga ik ook altijd voor een 5* hotel. Maar Toscane zal niet dat soort vakantie worden. We zullen vooral enkel 's nachts terug te vinden zijn in het hotel. We gaan met onze eigen wagen zodat verplaatsingen makkelijk zijn. Daarom zullen we ook in 3 verschillende hotels verblijven zodat het verplaatsten van stad naar stad minder tijd in beslag neemt. Vandaag blik ik al kort even vooruit op deze hotels.

We hebben al onze hotels geboekt via de website van Booking. Mijn vader gebruikt deze website regelmatig voor zijn zakenreizen en als je regelmatig via hun boekt, geven ze dan ook leuke kortingen. Wanneer ik een hotel uitzoek, hecht ik belang aan 3 dringen: de beoordelingen van andere klanten, de foto's van de kamers en of er (gratis) Wi-Fi beschikbaar is.

Our first hotel is the Versilia Palace hotel in Marina di Pietrasante, right at the seaside. The hotel gets a very good rating and is praised for their friendly staff and clean rooms. The hotel has Wi-Fi throughout the whole building and a swimming pool. Although we won't be spending a lot of time in the hotel, it's still nice to have a pool. The nice and luxurious beach town Forte di Mare is nearby.

NL: Ons eerste hotel is het Versilia Palace Hotel in Marina di Pietrasante, pal aan de kustlijn. Dit hotel heeft erg goede beoordelingen en wordt vooral geloofd omwille van zijn vriendelijke medewerkers en propere kamers. Het hotel heeft doorheen het volledige gebouw Wi-Fi en een zwembad. Ookal zullen we niet veel tijd doorbrengen in het hotel, toch vind ik het een leuke optie om een zwembad ter beschikking te hebben. Het prachtige en luxueuze strandplaatsje Forte di Mare is vlakbij gelegen.

Palazzo San Lorenzo is our second hotel and is situated in Colle di Val d'Elsa. It will be our base to visit Siena, a town with a lot of remains from the Middle Ages. This hotel really excides me because it's actually an old palace and I like the kind of "royal" feeling. A lot of 17th century decoration is still visible in the hotel  and there's a covered middle place where breakfast is served. I also just found out that Palazzo San Lorenzo has its own spa, omg!!!!

NL: Palazzo San Lorenzo is het tweede hotel waar we zullen verblijven en is gevestigd in Colle di Val d'Elsa. Het zal onze uitvalbasis zijn om Siena te bezoeken, een stadje met veel overblijfselen uit de Middeleeuwen. Dit hotel is echt helemaal mijn ding omdat het eigenlijk een oud paleis is en ik hou nogal van het "Koninklijke" gevoel. Je kunt nog veel 17e eeuwse decoratie terugvinden in het hotel en de binnenplaats is overdekt met een glazen koepel. Hier vindt 's morgens het ontbijt plaats. Zonet ontdekte ik ook dat Palazzo San Lorenzo zijn eigen spa heeft, joepie!!!!

Last but not least we will also by staying in hotel Boston located in Montecatini. This hotel owns a  swimming pool with a panoramic view and the very famous spa from Montecatini is also nearby.

NL: Ten laatste zullen we ook nog logeren in hotel Boston, gelegen in Montecatini. Dit hotel bezit een zwembad met panoramisch uitzicht en de zeer beroemde spa van Montecatini is nabij gelegen.

Another update about my personal life! I'm just back home from Sunrise Festival. I usually visit a lot of festivals every summer. My favorite stages are the hardstyle stages, I love this kind of music. It gives me energy to keep on going the whole day. I tend to avoid the stages with commercial music since I can just listen to that while going out.

NL: Weer tijd voor een update van mijn privé leven! Ik ben net terug thuis van Sunrise Festival. Ik bezoek elk jaar best veel festivals. Mijn favoriete podia zijn dan hardstyle stages. Geloof het of niet, maar dit is echt mijn favoriete soort muziek. De beat geeft me energie om de hele dag te blijven gaan. Je zal mij dus niet snel terug vinden bij de commerciële muziek want die hoor je altijd als je gewoon op stap gaat.

INSPIRATION: Superdry Fall - Winter 14/15

Recently I got contacted by the marketing team from Superdry. I have to admit I didn't really know this brand very well. My brother often wears their sweaters so I thought they were specialized in a sportier wardrobe. Boy was I wrong! Superdry indeed has a range of great sweaters but they offer so much more.

While browsing through their online website shop I discovered some lovely dresses, knitted clothes, accessories,... My attention was drawn and I wanted to find out more about his brand. Superdry’s way of designing and their prints are inspired by a journey to Tokyo. It's a quite young company which main focus is on a younger audience, from teens to people in their early twenties.

A lot of celebrities have been spotted, wearing Superdry. This has led to a huge success for the brand, with an online shop that delivers in about 100 countries and physical shops in every continent (except Africa).

After discovering some amazing pieces in their online shop, I will definitely keep my eye open the next time I go shopping. On their website you can find a very useful tool to search for a store in your neighborhood.

My contact person at Superdry gave the lookbook for next fall and winter. Summer hasn't really kicked in yet here in Belgium so I definitely don't want to think about another season yet. Truth is in about two months’ time the stores will be filling up with winter clothes and a good fashionista never goes to war unprepared ;-)

I'm super exciting about the looks from Superdry. The looks contain lot of texture and details. I noticed two main looks; on one hand the very luxury biker look with lots of leather and studs. On the other hand a lot of knitted looks which looks very qualitative and wakes up the inner winter boho in every woman. I also spotted a lot of oversized accessories, which I absolutely adore. Below you can find some of my favorite looks. Please let me know your opinion about this collection and whether you will be buying Superdry next fall.

NL: Onlangs werd ik gecontacteerd door het marketing team van Superdry. Ik moet toegeven dat ik, tot op dat moment, niet zoveel afwist van het merk. Mijn broer draagt wel regelmatig sweaters ervan en daardoor dacht ik dus ook dat ze meer een sportief merk waren. Maar daar zat ik dus eventjes fout. Superdry heeft inderdaad een groot aanbod van geweldige sweaters maar ze hebben daarnaast nog een ruim assortiment.

Tijdens het surfen door hun online bestelwebsite ontdekte ik een aantal leuke jurken, gebreide kleren, accessoires,... Mijn aandacht was meteen getrokken en ik kon niet wachten om het merk verder te ontdekken. Superdry ‘s manier van ontwerpen en de prints zijn geïnspireerd op een reis naar Tokio. Het is nog een relatief jong merk dat vooral een jonger publiek aantrekt, tieners tot jonge twintigers.

Veel beroemdheden werden al opgemerkt in Superdry kleding. Hierdoor kent het merk dan ook een groot succes met een online shop die in een honderdtal landen levert en fysieke winkels op alle continenten (behalve Afrika).

Nadat ik zoveel geweldige items heb gezien in hun online shop, zal ik zeker en vast volgende keer als ik ga shoppen, een Superdry winkel binnenstappen. Op de website kan je trouwens een handige tool terugvinden waarmee je een winkel in jouw buurt kunt opzoeken.

Mijn contactpersoon bij Superdry bezorgde me het lookbook voor volgende herfst en winter. De zomer is nog maar met mondjesmaat aanwezig in België dus ik wel zeker nog niet aan een volgend seizoen denken. Maar feit is wel dat de winkels zich binnen twee maanden weer terug zullen vullen met de eerste winterkleren. En een goede fashionista trekt nooit onvoorbereid naar de oorlog ;-)

Ik ben helemaal verslingerd aan de looks van Superdry. Er zit veel textuur en details in verwerkt. In de collectie kan je twee basis thema's onderscheiden: aan de ene kant de erg luxueuze biker look met veel leder en studs. Aan de ander kant vind je veel gebreide stuks van hoge kwaliteit terug in de collectie; Deze zullen ongetwijfeld de innerlijke winter boho in elke vrouw aanwakkeren. Verder merkte ik veel oversized accessoires op. Hieronder kan je enkele van mijn favoriete looks terugvinden. Shoplog #8

I know it has only been two days since my last shoplog but my resolution to not shop at all for 2 months totally fell apart last week. On Saturday I went to Hasselt with my mother because I had seen some Zara items that weren't in my size in Maastricht. Fortunately I found them in Hasselt. Both the ripped white jeans and the coat have already been featured in my outfit post yesterday.
I also bought two bracelets at H&M, they remind me a lot of the Hermès bracelets that are really trendy at the moment.

NL: Weeral een shoplog? Ja, mijn voornemen om 2 maanden niet te shoppen, is afgelopen week totaal in duigen gevallen. Zaterdag ging ik met mijn mama naar Hasselt, omdat ik nog enkele items van de Zara wou vinden die in Maastricht niet meer in mijn maat waren. Gelukkig vond ik hen in Hasselt. Zowel de witte gescheurde jeans als de jas kon je gisteren al zien in mijn outfit post.
Verder kocht ik ook twee armbanden bij H&M. Ze lijken echt heel fel op de Hermès armbanden die momenteel zeer trendy zijn.
